Founded in 2016, Paws Across Pittsburgh is a 100% volunteer-run, foster-based rescue that has placed over 5,000 dogs and cats in loving homes. Along with adoption, we run community programs like spay/neuter assistance, pet food pantries, and temporary fostering. Our work is funded by supporters — your donations directly save lives.

Paws Across Pittsburgh is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit, foster-based animal rescue serving the Pittsburgh region. Our mission is to rescue, rehabilitate, and rehome homeless, abused, abandoned, and unwanted dogs and cats — giving them the second chance they deserve.

We are operated entirely by dedicated volunteers who provide loving foster homes, veterinary care, proper nutrition, and socialization to every animal in our program. Each pet receives all necessary medical care, including spay/neuter services, vaccinations, and preventative treatments, before being placed in a forever home.

Our goal is simple: to ensure every animal we welcome into our rescue finds a safe, caring, and permanent home where they can thrive.

Our Board of Directors, together with every one of our incredible volunteers, work tirelessly to advance our mission and strengthen our impact in the community. Their dedication ensures that every pet who enters our rescue receives compassion, care, and the chance for a fresh start.
